Motor Vehicle Collision – WPS Marked Vehicle: C20-300350

Released: December 21, 2020 at 8 a.m.

On December 20, 2020, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a marked Winnipeg Police vehicle was southbound on Pembina Highway approaching Dalhousie Drive/Bairdmore Boulevard.

As the cruiser car entered the intersection, a second vehicle travelling northbound on Pembina attempted to make a left hand turn onto Bairdmore Boulevard.

As a result, the two vehicles collided. The lone WPS member was transported to hospital in stable condition, where he was treated and released. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) was contacted and has initiated an investigation. All further inquiries regarding this incident are to be directed to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba.
