Homicide – Arrest: C20-280857

Released: December 15, 2020 at 8 a.m.

As previously released:

On November 27, 2020, at 4:26 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 200 block of College Avenue for a report of an individual that had been found with serious injuries.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male inside the house. The death is being treated as a homicide.

The deceased has been identified as Kelvin Fredrick Sumner, a 38-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Update:

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation.

It is believed that the victim and a suspect were together in a suite during the daytime hours of November 26, 2020, when a dispute occurred and escalated to an assault. The suspect then fled the suite, and the victim was discovered deceased the next day.

On December 14, 2020, a male suspect was placed under arrest.

Justin James Scott Gledhill, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Second Degree Murder

He was detained in custody.
