Assault Peace Officer – Arrest: C20-295369

Released: December 15, 2020 at 8 a.m.

On December 14, 2020, at approximately 2:40 p.m. in the area of Graham Avenue and Smith Street, two adult females were engaging in a verbal argument which escalated when one of the females brandished a knife.

An off-duty officer in close proximity observed the incident and immediately intervened by identifying themselves as a police officer and directing the female to drop the weapon.

The female dropped the knife and was placed under arrest by the off-duty officer, while the weapon was safely retrieved. While waiting for police back-up to arrive the female became agitated and physically assaulted the officer in an effort to escape.

Additional members of Winnipeg Police Service later arrived and took the accused into custody. Nobody required medical attention as a result of this incident.

A 21-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with:

- Assault a Peace Officer
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

She was released on an Undertaking.
