Carjacking – Arrests: C20-277261

Released: November 23, 2020 at 8 a.m.

On November 22, 2020, at 8:36 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the first 100 block of Havelock Avenue for a report of a carjacking.

It is believed that two suspects were walking in the area when they came across a 24-year-old male victim and his friend at the rear of a residence. The victim was carjacked at knifepoint, chased and tackled. He was then robbed of his keys, and the vehicle was stolen.

Soon after, a police unit observed the stolen vehicle in the area of Fermor Avenue and St. Anne’s Road. The vehicle was followed until officers were able to safely bring it to a stop in the area of Beaverhill Boulevard and Lakewood Boulevard.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.

Joshua Eric Richards, an 18-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Robbery

He was detained in custody.

A 20-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of:

- Robbery

She was released on an Appearance Notice.
