WPS Members Test Positive for COVID-19

Released: October 27, 2020 at 8 a.m.

Two members of the Winnipeg Police Service have tested positive for COVID-19. The officers work in Central Division at the downtown Headquarters Building at 245 Smith Street.

The affected officers worked in the Central Division area from Friday, October 16 until Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

Public health investigations to identify individuals who may have been exposed begin after a confirmed laboratory test. Anyone identified as a close contact will be contacted by public health officials and provided instructions on next steps.

The Winnipeg Police Service has implemented numerous safety precautions, including physical barriers, increased hand-washing stations, and requiring that officers wear masks when interacting with the public when possible.
To limit contact with police personnel, the public is encouraged to consider online options for reporting crimes or starting a criminal record check request.
