Armed & Barricaded – Arrests: C20-241575

Released: October 13, 2020 at 8 a.m.

On October 11, 2020, at 12:18 a.m., a Central District Community Support unit was in the area of St. Matthews Avenue and Toronto Street when two males were observed – one of which was armed with a firearm. Both males immediately fled on foot.

Officers gave chase and subsequently located both suspects in the 300 block of Toronto Street. One male was taken into custody just outside of a residence, and the other fled inside. A standoff ensued, and soon after, two occupants exited the house and were taken into custody.

At 4:04 a.m., the outstanding suspect was safely taken into custody. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation, and a search of the residence resulted in the seizure of numerous items, including a loaded sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, a large amount of .22 calibre ammunition and a ballistic vest.

Investigators believe the suspects were familiar with the residence.

Halen James McLeod, a 28-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x3)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (X5)

He was also charged with offences for other recent matters in the Winnipeg and Stonewall areas:

- Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon (x4)
- Pointing a Firearm (x3)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x4)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm
- Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x3)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Break & Enter with Intent
- Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Fail to Stop When in Pursuit
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x16)

David Nelson Friesen, a 36-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)

He was also processed on an outstanding warrant for the suspension of his parole/statutory release.

Aaron Wilson Boutilier, a 22-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Possession of an Identity Document (x2)

Angelica Corrine Nikole McKay, a 20-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs (x4)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x4)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x3)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x9)
- Armed Robbery using a Firearm (x2)
- Pointing a Firearm (x2)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (x2)

She was also charged with offences for other recent matters in the Winnipeg area:

- Theft Under $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x2)
