City updates processes to accommodate electronic meetings of Council and Committees of Council

Released: April 14, 2020 at 2:45 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – Following adoption of a motion at the Special Meeting of City Council on April 3, Council will temporarily hold electronic meetings of Council and Committees of Council through April and May. The first electronic meeting will be the meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development, Heritage and Downtown Development on Monday, April 20.

Elected officials and required members of the Public Service will have the option of participating in meetings by attending in person, or by connecting via Zoom video conferencing.

The Council Building remains temporarily closed to the public, therefore residents who wish to speak as a delegation will only be allowed to do so remotely and will not be able to appear at the meeting in person. For those who would like to register as a delegate, they can contact City Clerk’s via 311 or email cityclerks@winnipeg.ca and must register by 4:30 p.m. the day prior to the meeting. Once registered, delegates will be provided with a phone number and access code to participate in the electronic meeting.

The public can also continue to view all meetings through winnipeg.ca. The entire calendar of electronic meetings for April and May is available on the City’s website.

Members of the media can either attend the meeting in person, or watch via livestreaming on the City’s YouTube channel.
