Assault with a Weapon – Arrest: C20-4362

Released: January 8, 2020 at 8 a.m.

On January 7, 2020, at approximately 7:28 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a bar/hotel in the 700 block of Main Street for the report of an injured male that had walked into the business. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. The male was transported to hospital where he remained in stable condition.

A male suspect was identified and at approximately 12:58 p.m., a North District General Patrol unit located the suspect inside the bar/hotel. The male resisted arrest and threatened to harm the officers while reaching towards a knife that had been concealed on him. He was safely taken into custody soon after.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the suspect and victim were involved in an altercation outside of the bar, at which time the victim was struck with an imitation firearm and stabbed numerous times.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at a suite in the bar/hotel and recovered an imitation firearm and a second knife.

Justin Tyler Daniel Dumas, a 25-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
