Assault Police Officer – Arrest: C20-227

Released: January 1, 2020 at 8 a.m.

On January 1, 2020, at approximately 5:56 a.m., a North District General Patrol unit observed a truck travelling on Inkster Boulevard at Keewatin Street with no lights and no licence plates.

The police unit caught up to the vehicle in the 100 block of Kinver Avenue where it came to an abrupt stop. The male driver exited the truck and faced away from officers as if he was going to flee, but upon hearing police yell for him to stop, he turned and came at them with a knife. A conducted electrical weapon (“Taser”) was successfully used to take the male into custody.

The vehicle was determined to have been stolen from the Heritage Park area on December 30, 2019, after it had been left running.

Kevin Bradley Sinclair, a 34-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x2)

He was detained in custody.
