Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision – Investigation: C19-57914 Update

An arrest has been made in a fatal Motor Vehicle Collision that occurred on March 18, 2019 at the intersection of Isabel St. and Ross Ave.

At the direction of the Crown’s office a 31-year-old female of Winnipeg will be charged with the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act:
- Adult Drive Carelessly Cause Death (HTA 188(2))
- Adult Drive Carelessly Cause Bodily Harm (HTA 188(2))
- Adult Disobey Traffic Control Device (HTA 85) x 2
- Adult As a Novice Driver Operate without Supervising Driver (HTA 26.4) x 2

She was released on an Appearance Notice in accordance with the HTA.

Previously Released:
On March 19, 2019, the 4-year-old female pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle died as a result of her injuries. The second pedestrian, an adult female, remains in the hospital at this time.

Previously Released:
On March 18, 2019, at approximately 12:00 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians in the area of Isabel Street and Alexander Avenue.

An adult female and a young child have been taken to hospital in critical condition, where they remain at this time.

Members of the Traffic Division continue to investigate and believe that several people may have witnessed this incident. Investigators are asking that motorists, including bus drivers, truck drivers, and waste management operators, check any video or dash cams that may have captured this unfortunate event.
