Released: November 7, 2019 at 8 a.m.

On November 5, 2019, at approximately 11:20 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police service responded to the 300 block of Sherbrook Street for the report of a carjacking. An online food delivery driver had been in the process of making a delivery when he was approached by a female and had his vehicle taken at knifepoint.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., a K9 unit in the area of Dufferin Avenue and Parr Street observed the stolen vehicle being driven by a female. After a brief pursuit with the assistance of General Patrol members, the car was stopped in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue. As police attempted to take the occupants of the vehicle into custody, the driver put the car into drive and dragged a K9 officer a short distance before managing to flee. The officer was not injured significantly.

A second pursuit ensued and came to an end when the female driver abandoned the stolen vehicle in the 300 block of Powers Street and fled on foot. She was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. A male passenger also fled.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
