Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Update: Water rescue from riverbank mud

Winnipeg, MB - At 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) water rescue crews responded to a report of people trapped in the mud at the edge of the Red River near the St. Boniface Hospital. Upon arrival at the scene, water rescue crews found two people stuck in the mud at the river’s edge.

Both people were rescued from the mud and transported to hospital. One person was transported in stable condition and one transported in unstable condition.

WFPS would like to remind the public to use caution around all bodies of water in the city as current water temperatures can quickly cause hypothermia and injury.
