Memorandum of Agreement covers four years

Winnipeg, MB - Executive Policy Committee (EPC) today recommended to Council ratification of a negotiated agreement between the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Police Association.

“I’m appreciative of the efforts made by representatives of the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Police Association to reach a negotiated settlement,” said Mayor Sam Katz. “The Winnipeg Police Service is focused on building strong, trusting relationships to achieve a safer community and the City of Winnipeg is proud to support this long-term approach.”

The four-year agreement, from December 2012 to December 2016, includes wage adjustments of two per cent for the first six months of 2013, 2014 and 2015; an additional 1.5 per cent for the last six months of 2013 and 2014, an additional one per cent for the last six months of 2015; and three per cent in 2016.

The next step in the ratification process is for the Memorandum of Agreement to be considered at the March 26, 2014 meeting of City Council. Members of the Winnipeg Police Association ratified the agreement on Feb. 28, 2014.
