Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Sam Katz presented Wellington Retirement Living with the City of Winnipeg Organizational Community Service Award at the residence's silver anniversary gala on Thursday afternoon.
The award recognizes the Charleswood seniors’ residence, located at its original location at 3161 Grant Avenue, for its 25 years of continuous operation. Mayor Katz expressed appreciation on behalf of the City of Winnipeg for the accommodation and support that The Wellington provides.
“I would like to congratulate The Wellington on this milestone anniversary, and recognize the management and staff for the excellent care that they have provided to residents for 25 years,” said Mayor Katz.
Geri Lowe, The Wellington’s Senior Executive Director, who has been at the residence since its opening in 1988, was on hand to accept the award from Mayor Katz.
“With a 25 year history, The Wellington has become a vital part of the community,” said Geri Lowe. “The residents, staff and community are what makes this residence shine, and we are thrilled to have been recognized by the City with this honour.”
The City of Winnipeg Organizational Community Service Award is presented to Winnipeg organizations demonstrating excellence and outstanding achievement, benefiting the social, cultural, or economic well-being of their community.The award was introduced in the 1950s and is often awarded on the occasion of a significant organizational anniversary.
