Planned maintenance work underway at Fort Rouge Leisure Centre necessitates temporary closures in areas of the facility

Winnipeg, MB - To complete planned maintenance work currently underway at Fort Rouge Leisure Centre at 625 Osborne Street, temporary closures of the following areas of the facility will occur as follows in the coming weeks:

2nd Floor
Closed to the public from Monday, August 12 until Friday, November 1, 2013

Main Floor Men’s Change Room (in the Weight Room)
Closed to the public from Monday, August 12 to Friday, August 16, 2013. During this period, the alternate men’s change facility will be the main floor men’s washroom.

Kitchen Facility
Will be unavailable from Monday, August 12 until Friday, November 1, 2013.

Arena Corridor and Washrooms
Closed to the public from Monday, August 12 to Monday, September 2, 2013.

Multi-Purpose Room
Currently closed to the public, re-opening Saturday, August 24, 2013

The required maintenance work includes upgrades to the facility’s lighting, as well as the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. The work will also include painting and tiling work occurring in the corridors, while the facility is open to the public.

This maintenance project is on track to be completed by November 2013. While the majority of the work has been scheduled to occur after hours to ensure minimal impact to the public using these recreation spaces, some areas of the building will be inaccessible for periods of time, as outlined above.

If any Leisure Guide programs or Sam Southern Arena bookings are affected, participants will be notified.

These planned closures will also be communicated to facility users through signage at the Leisure Centre and on the City’s website at Winnipeg.ca

Facility users can also contact 311, open 24 hours every day, by phone at 311 or by email at 311@winnipeg.ca, for up-to-date information regarding facility hours and temporary closures.
