City to extend hours of operation for spray pads

Released: June 27, 2013 at 11 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - With Winnipeg experiencing very hot temperatures, the hours of operation for spray pads will be extended from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

“It’s great to see our Community Centres so full of life in the summer,” said Mayor Sam Katz. “I am sure that the City spray pads will see non-stop use from the moment the water is turned on in the morning until well into the evening. We have seen a tremendous response when we have extended spray pad hours in the past, especially during heat waves like the one that we are experiencing now.”

“We are pleased to be able to extend the hours of operation at our City spray pads,” said Councillor Scott Fielding, Chair of the Standing Policy of Protection and Community Services. “The longer hours will be welcomed by Winnipeg families looking to cool off and have some fun on a hot summer evening.”
