St. Vital Library Background
St. Vital Library opened June 9, 1963 on a parcel of land sold by the City of St. Vital to the Library Board for one dollar. Architect George A. Stewart designed the building with a circular form and linear extension due to the shape of the property. The interior features a mezzanine, wood roof members, a natural wood deck and skylights in both the east and west sides of the building.

Today’s St. Vital Library is an active community hub with over 170 programs offered annually and 220,000 items borrowed last year.
