Frigid weather keeping recycling and garbage collection crews working later than usual this evening

Residents with a Monday collection advised to leave their carts and bins out

Winnipeg, MB - Recycling and garbage crews from both collection contractors will be working later than usual this evening and possibly throughout the week if the weather stays cold. To protect the health and safety of employees, particularly those working with semi-automated collection, additional warm-up breaks are required under the Workplace Safety and Health Guidelines. Also, extremely cold weather is slowing the hydraulics of the collection vehicles and causing some vehicle breakdowns.

Residents are advised to leave their carts or bins out past the usual time for collection. If carts or bins are not emptied by the end of their scheduled collection day, leave them out and they will be emptied the following day.
