East half of bridge complete, to open to traffic this evening

WINNIPEG, MB - The newly-constructed east half of the Sturgeon Road Bridge has been completed and will open to traffic today, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 by 7:00 p.m.

The project replaces the deteriorated and load-restricted, existing structure with a new structure that meets current roadside safety standards. The elevation of the new bridge is raised to allow for an active transportation (AT) path under the north span of the bridge.

The west portion of the bridge, AT path and landscaping is slated for completion by the fall of 2013.

One lane of traffic in each direction on Sturgeon Road will be maintained for the duration of the project.
