2012 Holiday Season operating hours for City facilities and services

City of Winnipeg Offices

All civic offices are closed at 12 noon on Monday, December 24 (Christmas Eve), and closed all day on Tuesday, December 25 (Christmas Day), and Wednesday, December 26 (Boxing Day). Civic offices will also be closed on Tuesday, January, 1, 2013 (New Year's Day).

Recycling/Garbage Collection Schedule for the Holiday Season

Single-family homes and multi-family apartments

Recycling and garbage cart collection on Monday, December 24 and Monday, December 31, will not change.

Recycling and garbage collectors will not be working on Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1. This will set collection back one day.

So for those residents that normally have collection on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, please put recycling and garbage carts out one day later. The adjusted collection schedule for this period is as follows:

For apartments with front loading collection bins
Collection will be either the day before or the day after the statutory holidays.

Brady Road Resource Management Facility (Brady Road Landfill)
The only changes to the regular hours of operation during the holidays are:

• Tuesday, December 25 - Closed
• Tuesday, January 1 - Closed

Let's Chip In Christmas tree recycling depots
Residents can recycle their real Christmas tree by dropping it off at any of the 11 Let's Chip In depots, open from Thursday, December 27 to Sunday, January 20. Please remove all tinsel, decorations, plastic bags, and tree stands. Free wood chips will be available at all Let's Chip In depots in early January (while quantities last). Please bring your own container.

Residents are reminded that trees placed beside recycling or garbage carts will not be collected.

Winnipeg Transit Holiday Service Schedule

Winnipeg Transit will be operating on a Sunday schedule for the following days:
Tuesday, December 25, Wednesday, December 26 and Tuesday, January 1.

The following routes will not be operating December 24, 27, 28 and 31:

• Route 25 Ness Super Express
• Route 41 Henderson/Glenway Express
• Route 46 Transcona Express

Winnipeg Transit and Manitoba Public Insurance are offering free transit service on Monday, December 31 (New Year's Eve). The Free Ride program applies to all regular Winnipeg Transit and Handi-Transit service starting at 7:00 p.m., until end of service. The last buses leave downtown at approximately 1:38 a.m.

Online services, including catalogue searches, requests/renewals, databases, and eBooks are available anytime at winnipeg.ca/library/

Leisure Centres

All Leisure Centres are closed on Monday, December 24, except:

• Fort Rouge Leisure Centre - open 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Peguis Trail Health & Fitness Centre - open 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre - open 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with free drop-in programming from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Freight House Recreation Centre - open 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon

Monday, December 31:

• Fort Rouge Leisure Centre - open 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Peguis Trail Health & Fitness Centre - open 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
