Residents reminded there is still an opportunity to donate unwanted blue boxes and garbage containers and to "Bring a Tin with the Bin"

Released: November 23, 2012 at 9:33 a.m.

WINNIPEG, MB - The City of Winnipeg and Winnipeg Harvest remind residents that there is still an opportunity to give new life to their unwanted blue boxes and garbage containers. Winnipeg Harvest also invites you to bring a "Tin with the Bin."

Blue boxes that are in good condition will be used by Winnipeg Harvest. Containers that are not reusable will be recycled by the City.

Blue Boxes and Garbage Containers

One day only - Saturday, November 24
Parking lot opposite 849 Ravelston Avenue West
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Blue Boxes only (in good condition)

Winnipeg Harvest 1085 Winnipeg Avenue
Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Winnipeg Harvest will use the blue boxes for a variety of purposes, including the Blue Box Gardening Program, food collection, delivery of emergency food hampers, and storage in the warehouse.

With Winnipeg's new recycling and garbage collection services in effect for residents of all single-family properties since the first week of October 2012, automated collection of rolling recycling and garbage carts has replaced manual collection of blue boxes and garbage containers.
