Pedestrian crossing line markings to be painted on Grosvenor Avenue, Warsaw Avenue and Roch Street

WINNIPEG, MB - October 19, 2012 - To increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists at traffic calming circles on Grosvenor Avenue, construction will begin next week to upgrade the five traffic circles along the roadway.

Curb extensions will be added on each exit of the traffic calming circles on Grosvenor Avenue.

"These additional curb extensions are intended to make the pedestrian crossing area more prominent and improve the interaction of pedestrians, motorists and cyclists at these intersections," said Luis Escobar, the City's Manager of Transportation.

In addition to the curb extensions, over the next few weeks, pedestrian crossing lines will be painted on traffic calming circles located on Grosvenor Avenue, Warsaw Avenue and Roch Street.

In spring 2013, pedestrian crossing lines will be painted on all other traffic calming circles throughout the city.
