WINNIPEG, MB - September 27, 2012 - Elected officials, senior leaders and staff from the City of Winnipeg will gather at City Hall over the lunch hour tomorrow (Friday, September 28) to participate in the City of Winnipeg Employees' & Retirees' Charitable Fund (ERCF) / United Way Fire Engine Pull event.

The purpose of this second annual event is to bring City of Winnipeg officials and staff together to formally kick off the City organization's 2012 ERCF Campaign.

This event is being planned in collaboration with United Way of Winnipeg as, like other levels of government, it is through their donations to the City's all-charities campaign that elected officials, senior leaders and staff support the annual United Way Campaign in our community.

Details of the Fire Engine Pull event are as follows:

Date:Friday, September 28, 2012
Time:12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
Location:William Avenue between Main Street and King Street

The City of Winnipeg Council, departments, agencies and service areas are represented on teams in the 2012 Fire Engine Pull event. The team with the fastest time at the end of the event will be awarded the small but prestigious 2012 City of Winnipeg ERCF Fire Engine Pull trophy, and of course bragging rights with municipal colleagues for the entire campaign year!

The fire engines being pulled in tomorrow's event, by teams of 12 people, weigh approximately 42,000 pounds each. Last year, the ERCF raised $466,000 for charities including United Way of Winnipeg.
