Northbound traffic on the Disraeli Bridge to flow for the first time Thursday, September 27

Released: September 26, 2012 at 11:14 p.m.

WINNIPEG, MB - September 26, 2012 - Beginning tomorrow evening, Thursday, September 27, all northbound lanes on the new Disraeli Bridge and the roadway connecting the overpass to the bridge will open for the first time following the afternoon rush hour.

Southbound and northbound lanes of the new overpass and southbound lanes of the new Disraeli Bridge opened this summer. Construction will continue through the early fall with Gladstone Street and Disraeli Street on/off ramps and Talbot Avenue turnoff of the Disraeli Overpass and Disraeli Bridge slated to open in October 2012.

The project is running on time and on its budget of $195 million. The Disraeli Bridges Project is a public-private partnership, also known as a P3.

The new Disraeli Bridges will replace the 50-year-old structures that span the Red River and the Canadian Pacific Railway main line, and will rejuvenate a critical piece of Winnipeg's transportation infrastructure.
