Disraeli Bridge southbound lanes to be closed weekends until mid-September

Released: August 23, 2012 at 10:50 p.m.

WINNIPEG, MB - August 23, 2012 - The two southbound lanes of the Disraeli Bridge over the Red River will be closed weekends until mid-September to allow for concrete to be poured on the new bridge.

Suggested alternate routes in the immediate area for southbound traffic are the Redwood Bridge, Louise Bridge and Provencher Bridge.

The sidewalk on the east side of the existing bridge will continue to be open to pedestrian traffic during this closure. For Winnipeg Transit re-routing information, visit winnipegtransit.com or contact 311, open 24 hours every day, by phone at 311 or by email at 311@winnipeg.ca.

The new Disraeli Bridges will replace the 50-year-old structures that span the Red River and the Canadian Pacific Railway main line, and will rejuvenate a critical piece of Winnipeg's transportation infrastructure.
