Winnipeg Public Library hosts the Winnipeg Goldeyes in support of children's literacy

WINNIPEG, MB - August 3, 2012 - For the 14th year, players from the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball Club are teaming up with the Winnipeg Public Library to promote children’s literacy and support the Library’s TD Summer Reading Club. On Tuesday, August 7 at 1:30 p.m., Goldeyes players will visit nine branches across the city to share the fun and importance of reading with young library users.

Players will read stories, answer questions and sign autographs. Registration is required for the Goldeyes players’ visits. To register, please contact the host library.

The following Winnipeg Public Libraries will be hosting Goldeyes players:

The readings will be followed by the annual Library Night at the Ballpark in Shaw Park on Wednesday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. Attending the game will be 20 young readers and their families who won tickets through their participation in the Library’s TD Summer Reading Club. Winnipeg Public Library will also be in attendance for onsite library card signups, information and promotions. The first 4,500 fans will receive baseball bookmarks.
