WINNIPEG, MB - July 10, 2012 - Mayor Sam Katz yesterday brought together stakeholders involved in the Corydon/Osborne neighbourhood plan, including Property and Development Chair Jeff Browaty, area councillor Jenny Gerbasi, community representative Carla Richmond, local business owner Jerry Cianflone, residential developer Jeff Rabb, Chief Administrative Officer Phil Sheegl and Chief Operating Officer Deepak Joshi.
All participants agreed upon the importance of developing a workable neighbourhood plan and gave unanimous support to next steps to ensure this happens. Tomorrow, Mayor Katz will bring forward a motion to Executive Policy Committee requesting the Public Service engage the services of an independent party to work with it and build upon the planning that has already been done for the Corydon/Osborne neighbourhood plan, while taking care to ensure all stakeholders have a voice in the process.
“We all appreciate the distinctive energy and atmosphere this neighbourhood provides,” said Mayor Katz. “In that sense, the Corydon area belongs to the residents, the businesses who have invested there, and to all of us who enjoy spending time there.”
The Mayor has also asked the Public Service to review the membership of the Corydon/Osborne Community Planning Advisory Committee to ensure fair representation of all stakeholders in the community, including residents, business, and residential developers.
