WINNIPEG - March 29, 2012 - The public is advised that Waterfront Drive will be closed between Higgins Avenue and Macdonald Avenue starting Monday, April 2, 2012 until mid-August, 2012. The closure is required for construction of the new Disraeli Bridges.

In addition to the closure on Waterfront Drive, there will be no northbound left turns permitted from Gomez Street onto Higgins Avenue during this time. Motorists are advised that the suggested alternate route between Higgins Avenue and Downtown is Main Street.

The traffic signal at Higgins Avenue and Waterfront Drive will remain active for signalized pedestrian crossing. The sidewalk on the east side of Waterfront Drive will remain open. There will be no on-street parking on Waterfront Drive between Higgins Avenue and MacDonald Avenue.

The new Disraeli Bridges will replace 50-year-old structures that span the Red River and the Canadian Pacific Railway mainline, and will rejuvenate a critical piece of Winnipeg's transportation infrastructure.
