Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two residential structure fires in the past day.
Flora Avenue
At 3:14 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 500 block of Flora Avenue. Initial reports indicated people may have been trapped inside.
Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters rescued three residents trapped inside the house. Paramedics assessed the residents and transported all three to hospital – one in unstable condition and two in stable condition.
Firefighters launched an interior fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 3:40 a.m.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available.
Ross Avenue
At 1:24 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey apartment building in the 400 block of Ross Avenue.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy black smoke coming from the building. Firefighters entered the building and attacked the fire from inside. They brought the fire under control at 1:57 p.m.
Firefighters found one person in the suite where the fire started. The person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other injuries were reported. The City’s Emergency Social Services team attended to provide temporary support for displaced residents.
The WFPS and the Winnipeg Police Service continue to investigate the fire.
