Winnipeg, MB – Earlier today, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to structure fires on Manitoba Avenue, Selkirk Avenue, and Coralberry Avenue. Crews also performed a technical rescue following a workplace incident at a construction site on Frontier Trail.

Manitoba Avenue fire

At 1:28 p.m. on December 17, 2025, the WFPS responded to a garage fire in the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue.

When they arrived on scene, firefighters found the garage fully engulfed in flames. They launched a fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control.

No injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation.

Selkirk Avenue fire

At 11:49 a.m. on December 17, 2025, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey house in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. Due to intense fire conditions, crews were unable to enter the home and initiated a defensive attack using handlines and an aerial ladder, while also protecting a neighbouring building. The fire was declared under control at 1:54 p.m.

All occupants of the house self-evacuated prior to the arrival of responders. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available, but the house is considered a complete loss.

Frontier Trail incident

At 10:23 a.m. on December 17, 2025, the WFPS responded to an incident at a construction site on Frontier Trail. Reports indicated that an employee fell from the site’s main floor into the basement.

Using specialized equipment, crews stabilized the patient and performed a technical rescue to remove them from the basement. The patient was transported to hospital in stable condition.

At 7:24 a.m. on December 17, 2025, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 0 to 100 block of Coralberry Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the house. They attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 7:59 a.m.
