Winnipeg, MB – Families in Ridgewood West will soon have a new accessible playground to support active living and play.
City officials broke ground today on the playground, which will be located at 255 Couture Cres. It will feature play equipment for 2–12-year-olds, including:
- An accessible play structure with ramped access
- Independent play equipment
- Swings
“This new playground is a direct result of working alongside the community and the consistent buildout of Ridgewood West, which has contributed to the ward’s Land Dedication Reserve fund,” said Evan Duncan, Councillor for Charleswood - Tuxedo – Westwood. “It’s a meaningful investment that will serve Charleswood families for decades and reflects our commitment to building vibrant, family-friendly neighbourhoods as our community grows.”
With views of the adjacent naturalized pond, the project also includes new benches, a picnic table, and trees, which will be provided by Qualico.
The budget for the playground is approximately $230,000 and is funded through the City of Winnipeg’s Land Dedication Reserve Fund.
Construction is expected to start the week of August 18, 2025, and be completed by late September, weather permitting.
