Winnipeg, MB – The current Louise Bridge closure has been extended.
The bridge is now anticipated to open in early September.
We initially closed the bridge on May 23, 2025 for its annual inspection and maintenance. The inspection uncovered corrosion that needed to be fixed before the bridge could reopen. We expected that work to conclude by end of July.
In the course of completing the corrosion repairs, we discovered additional defects on the bridge. These will require additional time to fix.
We appreciate the frustration this will cause and ask for patience while we work towards reopening the bridge.
We will continue to update our anticipated timeline as needed via our Lane Closures map.
In the meantime, we encourage drivers to allow additional travel time and plan alternate routes, such as the Disraeli Bridge or Provencher Bridge.
Louise Bridge remains open to pedestrians and cyclists. We may reduce that access intermittently to accommodate specific work.
