Winnipeg, MB – At 5:27 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke coming from the house. They entered and launched an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 6:01 a.m.
All occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team responded to provide temporary support to the displaced residents.
Residents should use caution in the area, as water used to fight the fire has frozen, creating slippery conditions. City of Winnipeg crews will be monitoring conditions and applying sand and de-icing agents to roadways and sidewalks as required to improve traction.
Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. Damage estimates are not available.
