Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two structure fires on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Garry Street fire
At 12:38 a.m., WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a high-rise apartment in the 0-100 block of Garry Street. With the potential for high life hazards when dealing with a high-rise, a second alarm was called which increased the number of crews on scene.
Firefighters attacked a fire in the building, declaring it under control at 1:13 a.m. No injuries were reported. All residents were able to return to their suites once crews completed their work on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
Selkirk Avenue fire
At 7:12 a.m. today, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a vacant building in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Firefighters attacked the fire, declaring it under control at 7:36 a.m. Firefighters searched the building and confirmed there was no one inside. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
This building had previous fire damage from a fire on December 4, 2024.
