Winnipeg, MB – At 10:52 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, two-storey multi-family residence in the 600 block of Flora Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. They initially launched a defensive fire attack from the exterior. Once it was safe to do so, they entered the building and transitioned to an interior fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 11:49 p.m.
Crews completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported. One cat was found deceased in the building.
The fire is under investigation. The structure was damaged in a previous fire earlier this month. Damage estimates are not available.
Anyone who sees someone actively entering a vacant building, or removing boards from windows or doors from a building, should call 911 to report the incident immediately.
If you notice boarded windows or doors that have been breached, but you do not see someone actively entering or trying to enter the building, report the incident to 311 by phone or online.
