The Winnipeg Public Library will begin reopening all of its branches beginning March 1, 2021 for contactless holds pick-up service and returns, with the exception of the Cornish Library which is closed for renovations.

Due to the popularity of the Winnipeg Public Library’s contactless pick-up service, the City of Winnipeg is recalling 91 temporary, part-time employees who were laid off due to COVID-19 closures. The affected employees are anticipated to return to work beginning February 8, 2021.
December 21, 2020 - City launches Winnipeg COVID-19 Economic Support Grant Program
The City of Winnipeg has launched the Winnipeg COVID-19 Economic Support Grant Program in order to assist Winnipeg small businesses and not-for-profit organizations that have been forced to prohibit access to their premises due to COVID-19 public health restrictions effective November 12, 2020 or thereafter.

A $3 million grant program is being proposed as part of the preliminary 2021 Balanced Budget Update to assist Winnipeg small businesses and not-for-profit organizations ordered to temporarily cease operations or close their physically accessible locations by the provincial government’s public health orders that took effect on November 12, 2020.

On October 31, all City-owned and operated recreation facilities, gyms, indoor pools, arenas, and libraries were closed until further notice due to the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region being elevated to Critical (Red) on the provincial Pandemic Response System.
