COVID-19: City of Winnipeg response and latest updates on City facilities and services COVID-19 : Mesures prises par la Ville de Winnipeg et dernières nouvelles sur les installations et services municipaux
Community Services

Arena Rentals

City-operated arenas are now open, with the exception of St. James Civic Centre.

Effective September 3, 2021, proof of COVID-19 immunization is now required to visit and participate in indoor programming at City-operated pools, fitness and leisure centres, and arenas.

Residents are encouraged to book public skating blocks prior to arriving, as there is no guarantee of available blocks for registration upon arrival. Blocks will be offered on a week-by-week basis and reservations can be made up to 10 p.m. the day before the pre-reserved time (space permitting). Every Thursday, another week of public skating blocks will be added to what’s available for registration.

Access to dressing rooms/showers will be limited.

Customers are asked to use the self-assessment symptom checklist at the time of pre-booking, and before entering the facilities. Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter.

For more information, see:

Arena use in the City of Winnipeg is allocated (assigned) following the Indoor Arena Ice Allocation Policy.

Ice time is allocated on a “block basis” to local area associations that govern the individual community youth programs according to the number of teams registered in the previous year. The local area associations and high school leagues are responsible for the further breakdown and distribution of ice time.

Following the allocation to youth programs, contract rentals are coordinated on a city-wide basis.

Ice time that remains unassigned is available for casual ice rental.
