Insect Control

The Insect Control Branch will continue its forest tent caterpillar control program tonight, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 9:30 p.m., weather permitting, in Insect Management Areas 49, 7 and 9.

This season's program will be treating City boulevards and focusing on City parks and cemeteries where forest tent caterpillars are starting to cause significant levels of defoliation. Throughout the program, surveillance crews will continue to identify areas of the city where trees require treatment.

May 27, 2017

The Insect Control Branch will be closing Assiniboine Forest between Saturday, May 27th, 2017 and Monday, May 29th, 2017 to treat with granular larvicide for Mosquito Larva. The Helicopter will be treating, weather permitting, between 5:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Once treatment has been completed park will re-open.

Signs to alert the Public have been posted and barricades will be erected during treatment.
