Deer Crossing

In 2010, there were approximately 1692 reported collisions involving wildlife in the Winnipeg Area. The majority of collisions (629 collisions) involved deer. Consequently, only deer crossing signs will be installed and then only under the following circumstances:

  • On any street where it crosses a well-defined deer trail, and when confirmed by the Department of Natural Resources.
  • On any section of street with a speed limit of 60km/h or more that exhibits a wild animal collision history in excess of 1 collision/year/km of street over the most recent 5 year period.
