Sexual Assault – Public Advisory: C22-293941

On December 19, 2022, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a sexual assault involving a youth female in the Worthington neighbourhood of St. Vital.

Officers met with an 11-year-old female and her caregiver, who provided an initial report.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., the youth returned to her apartment after walking her dog. An unknown male followed her into the building, where he approached her and touched her in an unwanted sexual manner, covering her mouth when she tried to scream for help. The suspect fled the building, and the victim made it safely to her suite. She was not physically injured and reported the incident to her caregiver.

The suspect is described as a black male in his teens, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, and an orange “beanie” style hat.

Investigators in the Child Abuse Unit are continuing this investigation. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call the Child Abuse Unit at 204-986-3296.
