Sexual Assaults – Arrest: C22-293941

Update:

On December 20, 2022, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a Public Advisory regarding the sexual assault of a youth female in a St. Vital neighbourhood.  

The Child Abuse Unit continued to investigate, and a suspect was identified. Subsequently, two additional reports were made to police involving a male believed to be the same suspect. 

On March 14, 2023, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a teenage female reported being followed into an apartment in the Beliveau neighbourhood by an unknown male. He grabbed her and kissed her. As she screamed for help, he fled.

On March 15, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a female in her twenties reported being followed into an apartment in the Beliveau neighbourhood by an unknown male. When she later went to exit the building, the suspect, still in the building, grabbed her from behind. He covered her mouth, pulled her to the ground, and she was touched in an unwanted sexual manner. As the female screamed for help, the suspect fled.

On March 16, 2023, Child Abuse Unit investigators arrested and charged a male regarding all three incidents with the following offences:

- Sexual Assault x 3

- Sexual Interference x 2

He was released on a release order as mandated by the Criminal Code.

On December 19, 2022, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a sexual assault involving a youth female in the Worthington neighbourhood of St. Vital.

Officers met with an 11-year-old female and her caregiver, who provided an initial report. 

At approximately 5:00 p.m., the youth returned to her apartment after walking her dog. An unknown male followed her into the building, where he approached her and touched her in an unwanted sexual manner, covering her mouth when she tried to scream for help. The suspect fled the building, and the victim made it safely to her suite. She was not physically injured and reported the incident to her caregiver. 

The suspect is described as a black male in his teens, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, and an orange “beanie” style hat. 

Investigators in the Child Abuse Unit are continuing this investigation. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call the Child Abuse Unit at 204-986-3296.
