Winnipeg, MB - Nearly 1,000 guests will gather for the sold-out inaugural ONE: The Mayor's National Summit on Racial Inclusion to be held tonight and tomorrow in Winnipeg.
Led by the City of Winnipeg and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) with support from the Province of Manitoba and the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, the ONE Summit encourages Canadians to take action against racism.
âÅThe ONE Summit is a stepping-stone on a long journey, but it is a journey we are committed to,â said Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman. âÅI truly believe that we can share solutions, cultivate new ideas and increase the tempo and urgency of the search for solutions, across Canada.â
The ONE Summit will include a panel discussion on Thursday, September 17th, featuring keynote speaker, Scotiabank Giller Prize winning author Joseph Boyden. A series of workshops will follow on Friday, September 18th that include recognizing racism, promoting healthy race relations, and moving forward toward inclusion and reconciliation.
