WINNIPEG, MB - Approximately 30 to 40 staff members from Ernst & Young LLP will take part in a Day of Caring today from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Broadway Neighbourhood Centre, 185 Young Street. Volunteers from the professional services firm will work on a number of improvement projects including painting of washrooms and office space, construction of compost bins, and the moving of a shed as part of their Winnipeg office’s annual Connect Day where staff venture out into the community to give back in areas such as education, entrepreneurship and the environment.
The Broadway Neighbourhood Centre Inc. is a not-for-profit organization committed to providing the highest quality recreational, social, health, educational, and employment training programs and services to all ages. The primary focus of the Centre is the local neighbourhood and the Centre responds to the issues, needs and strengths of the neighbourhood through specialized, flexible and innovative solutions.
The City of Winnipeg provides an annual operating grant of $120,500 to the Centre as well as providing a social grant of $150,000 annually to operate the popular JUST TV program. Additionally, the Community Services Department and Recreation Services operate a Free Play Drop-in session, Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
