WINNIPEG, MB - August 17, 2012 - Today, Mayor Sam Katz was on hand to turn sod at the site of an up-and-coming condominium project that will see 72 units built on what was the site of the former Town of Transcona City Hall.
Construction of the Park City Condominiums, which involves 12 buildings with six units per building, will begin shortly with at least 18 units slated for completion by early next year.
"By completing this sale, the City of Winnipeg is helping to transform an industrial yard into good-looking multi-family units," said Mayor Sam Katz. "I expect these new units will attract families from all over the city and represents a significant investment being made in this community"
"I think people will really like the look both inside and out," said Bill Thiessen of Re/Max Performance Realty, the lead realtor for the project. "It's a complex that will merge well with its surroundings in this great area."
In addition, net proceeds of the land purchased from the City by A&S Construction Ltd. will go towards the Transcona Centennial Square.
This new development will be located on Pandora Avenue West.
