WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz today announced the first community centres to receive funding under the brand new Community Centre Renovation Grant Program (CCRG).
Under this first intake, 17 community centres have been awarded renovation grants. The combined total of these grants is $560,000.
âÅWe want community centres to be able to focus on programming, not on how they are going to fix a floor or a broken window,â said Mayor Katz. âÅCommunity centres are the lifeblood of our city and we're proud to meet our commitment to support them with this new renovation grant.â
The program, approved by Council on February 22, 2012, provides up to $965,000 in annual funding for community centres to access in support of repairs, upgrades, retrofits, safety improvements and renovation projects. Applicants are eligible for 100% support of project costs to a maximum of $50,000 per project per calendar year.
The 17 community centres are:
Central | Chalmers |
Glenwood | Heritage Victoria |
Luxton | Maples |
Melrose Park | North Kildonan |
Northwood | Notre Dame |
Park City West | Roblin Park |
Tuxedo | Waverley Heights |
Westdale | Wildwood |

The CCRG Program has two intake periods each year: Spring Intake, with an application deadline of May 1 and Fall Intake, with an application deadline of November 1.
