On March 12, 2023, at 12:07 p.m., North District General Patrol units responded to the north part of Winnipeg for a report of a stolen Peterbilt box truck being driven erratically and tracked by GPS.

Soon after, officers acquired and observed the truck near Jefferson Avenue and King Edward Street. The vehicle was followed as it travelled through the Seven Oaks, River East and Transcona areas, with officers repeatedly attempting to stop it safely.

A tire deflation device (“Stop Stick”) was successfully deployed in the Gunn Road and Day Street area. The truck continued to flee and attempted to side-swipe a police vehicle but failed. Soon after, it struck a snowbank in the 900 block of Redonda Street.

The driver was removed from the vehicle but resisted officers as he was taken into custody.

The truck had been stolen from an Omand’s Creek Industrial area business.

- Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

He was detained.
