On May 11, 2026, members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s North District General Patrol officers arrested two chronic shoplifters as a result of an investigation involving multiple retail thefts throughout the city.
The Property Crime Unit assumed the investigation and identified an adult male and an adult female believed to the incidents detailed below:
- March 10: two suspects attended a retail store in the 600 block of Empress Street and stole merchandise valued at $436
- March 24: two suspects attended a retail store in the 900 block of Leila Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $981
- April 4: two suspects attended a retail store in the 1500 block of Kenaston Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $1,011
- April 14: two suspects attended a retail store in the 3600 block of Portage Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $369
- April 15: two suspects attended a retail store in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $717
- April 15: two suspects attended a retail store in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $575
- April 18: two suspects attended a retail store in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $138
- April 19: two suspects attended a retail store in the 800 block of St. James Street and stole merchandise valued at $599
- April 27: two suspects attended a retail store in the 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway and stole merchandise valued at $1,000
- April 29: a suspect attended a retail store in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street and stole merchandise valued at $325
- April 30: two suspects attended a retail store in the 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway and stole merchandise valued at $485
- May 4: two suspects attended a retail store in the 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway and stole merchandise valued at $800
The incidents were all captured on store surveillance and reported to police. Investigators also received information through a tip submitted through Winnipeg Crime Stoppers. Through their investigation, investigators linked the suspects to the above-mentioned incidents and warrants were issued for their arrests.
Dillon MIDDLETON (31) was arrested on May 11 in the 800 block of Main Street during an unrelated call for service, and a 28-year-old woman was arrested the same day in the 700 block of Aberdeen Avenue.
MIDDLETON is charged with 12 counts of Theft Under $5,000 while the woman faces 9 counts of Theft Under $5,000.
MIDDLETON was detained in police custody awaiting further disposition, while the woman was released on an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
