Neighbourhood Watch is a community run program which is supported by the Winnipeg Police Service
Neighbourhood Watch reduces crime through the active participation of citizens in crime prevention. It involves working with your neighbours to prevent crime before it starts.
Few people are in a position to protect their homes and property all of the time and the Neighbourhood Watch program can help to provide a sense of security by encouraging neighbours to keep an eye on each other's property and reporting suspicious activity. The program also helps to co-ordinate the efforts of the police and the community in tracking down criminals.
If you are starting a Neighbourhood Watch in your community fill out the block captain application and we will add you to our contact list.

Another opportunity to consider in creating a culture of safety in your community is to start a Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP) chapter in your area. COPP brings neighbours together to be on the lookout for any suspicious or criminal activity, to document this activity and, where appropriate, to report such activities to the police. Members act as additional “eyes and ears” for their community and the police, which assists in reducing crime.
