Property Crime Unit continues to target retail theft with another prolific suspect arrest: E25-32508/E26-765/E26-7727/E26-3787

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Property Crime Unit continues investigating retail thefts to commercial businesses within Winnipeg. A string of retail thefts committed between June of 2025 and May of 2026 were reported to police who initiated an investigation. The incidents include the following:

  • June 29, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $397 from a retail store in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West
  • September 19, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $300 from a retail store in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue
  • September 27, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $300 from a retail store in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West
  • October 8, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $80 from a hotel convenience store in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West
  • October 30, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $600 from a retail store in the 800 block of St. James Street
  • October 30, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $625 from a retail store in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street
  • November 14, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $315 from a retail store in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West
  • December 9, 2025: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $510 from a retail store in the 2100 block of Pembina Highway
  • January 8, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $500 from a retail store in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street
  • January 24, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $510 from a retail store in the 2100 block of Pembina Highway
  • January 24, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $740 from a retail store in the 1500 block of Kenaston Boulevard
  • February 18, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $740 from a retail store in the 1500 block of Kenaston Boulevard
  • March 16, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $1385 from a retail store in the 900 block of Leila Avenue
  • March 20, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $365 from a retail store in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West
  • March 24, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $365 from a retail store in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West
  • April 29, 2026: A suspect stole merchandise valued at $330 from a retail store in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street

Most of these incidents were captured on store video surveillance and reported to police online. The Property Crime Unit assumed the investigation, identified and linked 43-year-old Mitchell MORRISEAU as a suspect in the above-mentioned incidents. Arrest warrants were obtained for his arrest.

On May 2, 2026, MORRISEAU was apprehended by loss prevention officers at a retail store in the 800 block of Leila Avenue after he attempted to leave with stolen merchandise valued at $285. The WPS were contacted and MORRISEAU was turned over to the custody of attending Property Crime Unit investigators.

MORRISEAU has been charged with 17 counts of Theft Under $5,000 and was detained in custody.
