On March 20, 2026, at 12:47 a.m., West District General Patrol officers arrested a 17-year-old male youth after responding to the report of a taxi cab operator who had just been assaulted.

Shortly after midnight, the 17-year-old youth attended the surface parking lot of a hotel in the 1300 block of Pembina Highway and approached the parked taxi. The youth fled on foot before police were contacted by hotel staff.

At 12:47 a.m., the youth returned to the area where officers located and arrested him without incident. A combat style knife was found on his person and seized as evidence.

The 17-year-old has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Assault
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The youth was also arrested on the strength of two warrants for Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, and Failure to Comply with Sentence x 2.

He was detained in custody.
